Bumpy Pumpkins of Provence

You have, it seems to me, two choices. You can buy a couple of pounds of peanuts and glue them to the surface of your pumpkin, or you can skip the middleman by getting a Poitron Brodé Galeux d’Eysine.

I am told that this lovely but unconventional surface goes along with a surprisingly powerful flavor. This must be the Ida Lupino of Squash.

These do look a bit like a preschool art project gone haywire-in a good way. Did you buy one and cook with it? Inquiring minds want to know.

Had to tell you- the word verification letters for this comment are "cafebbq"! I just read some stuff about probability, explaining that coincidences are to be expected. I suppose alot of these random letters are forming words all the time. I still like it, though.

  2. lindy,
I did not yet buy one--I am frantically trying to keep up with the vegetables coming in from my csa. I will have to try one, they are supposed to be very rich and sweet, but they are also HUGE. I will need help. I also want to get a Marina di Chioggia this fall, but they are huge too.

I have often felt that I was receiving secret messages from somewhere via word verification.
