Lost, or Stolen , or Strayed

I had had this giant fuzzy pipe-cleaner flower on my handlebars for years and yesterday it was stolen on East Broadway. I really felt unsafe riding home, as if I had no helmet, or even clothing. And she was so looking forward to coming on the tour. I was heartsick.
Chocolate helps. Also bubblewrap.

Show of hands, please. How many people got the literary reference?

I am so sorry, and quite shocked, about the flower.

I have just stumbled upon your blog. I love the clean design and fantastic photos. I am a blogger myself and always thought that design was key and you have certainly captured that! There are so many food blogs out there these days and being different to all the others is key. I have just started www.ifoods.tv which is a website for chefs, foodies and food bloggers to hand out, share recipes, photos and videos. When i was blogging I always thought i should be getting more traffic as my blog was getting lost in the masses of stuff out there so my new site is aimed at giving food bloggers and chefs a bigger platform! Hope you enjoy it and keep up the good writing and design here! I have now bookmarked you so will be regular reader, Cheers!

While I continue to scour Western Canada for a replacement fuzzy flower, perhaps someone could share the literary reference?

  6. nomi,

thank you so much for you loving efforts! The citation is from a poem titled "Disobedience" by A. A. Milne

    A. A. Milne - Disobedience

    James James
    Morrison Morrison
    Weatherby George Dupree
    Took great
    Care of his Mother
    Though he was only three.
    James James
    Said to his Mother,
    "Mother," he said, said he;
"You must never go down to the end of the town, if
you don't go down with me."

    James James
    Morrison's Mother
    Put on a golden gown,
    James James
    Morrison's Mother
Drove to the end of the town.
    James James
    Morrison's Mother
    Said to herself, said she:
"I can get right down to the end of the town and be
    back in time for tea."

    King John
    Put up a notice,
    "LOST or STOLEN or STRAYED!
    JAMES JAMES
    MORRISON'S MOTHER
    SEEMS TO HABE BEEN MISLAID.
    LAST SEEN
    WANDERING VAGUELY
    QUITE OF HER OWN ACCORD,
SHE TRIED TO GET DOWN TO THE END OF
THE TOWN - FORTY SHILLINGS REWARD!

    James James
    Morrison Morrison
    (Commonly known as Jim)
    Told his
    Other relations
    Not to go blaming him.
    James James
    Said to his Mother,
    "Mother," he said, said he,
"You must never go down to the end of the town with-
    out consulting me."

    James James
    Morrison's Mother
    Hasn't been heard of since.
    King John
    Said he was sorry,
So did the Queen and Prince.
    King John
    (Somebody told me)
Said to a man he knew:
"If people go down to the end of the town, well, what
    can anyone do?"

    (Now then, very softly)
    J. J.
    M. M.
    W. G. du P.
    Took great
    C/o his M*****
    Though he was only 3.
    J. J.
    Said to his M*****
    "M*****," he said, said he:
    "You-must-never-go-down-to-the-end-of-the-town-if-
    you-don't-go-down-with ME!"

  7. james james morrison morisson!

(i was very excited by the reference: i memorized the poem at age 8 or so.)

i am sad to hear you have lost your bicycle mascot. however, i have faith that ny will bring you a new one: just keep your eyes open. you find wonderful things in the trash. try the garment district if all else fails.
