I ask my fridge for advice all the time. As in, "What do I want to eat now?" I'll let you know if it ever answers.
BTW, have you noticed how often the word verification "word" looks like it could almost be Yiddish? Right now the word I'm about to type in is "wlvuutzl"

Esculent, or esculenta, is common in botanical terminology to idicate edibility of one species of an otherwise inedible genus.
