Transparent Things

Viana La Place doesn’t like them, but I am close to the conclusion that everything that gets refrigerated needs to be in a transparent bag or container. If you are going to refrigerate an item in an opaque vessel, you might as well just skip the middleman and throw it on the compost heap right now, because you know that’s where it’s going.

This is so true! Long years ago I learned never to use opaque plastic containers for leftovers, having discovered the hard way that anonymity breeds unperceivability, along with a lot of other things, mostly with long white fuzzy hair. For some reason this is true EVEN WHEN THE CONTAINERS ARE VERY CLEARLY AND LOUDLY LABELED IN CHINA MARKER, as here. However, I always assumed that I was the only person of whom this was true and that everyone else was decently attentive to the contents of her little boxes. So you can imagine what a relief it is to see this in print.

Right you are.

I think I've found too that the more frequently I use any given transparent box the less likely it is to lose its lid.

zp,
I have a dedicated lid drawer, and find I more frequently am left with extra maiden lids rather than extra bachelor boxes.
