On the Fire


Currently on the stove: Two kinds of chickpeas for khumes.

Currently on the oven floor: Starter for salt-rising bread.

Ooooh, I'm so excited.

ooh, i've only heard tales of the great and mysterious ways of salt-rising bread...like it supposedly only works one time out of three, even if conditions are perfect. Maybe these are just legends to make bakers feel more special. Let us know how it works out.

I am a bit nervous-- The Little House Cookbook advises that you may need to abandon the starter. I will certainly let you know.
